Poem by Unknown - On Visiting a King

If you and I should visit
A king some happy day.
We would be quiet in His house
We would not romp and play.

We would not tear or soil His books
Nor scratch his chairs and walls,
We would not throw down peanut hulls
Or paper in the halls.

The Lord’s house is a King’s house.
The King is always there,
He listens to the preacher
He joins each song and prayer.

Then let us treat the Lord’s house
As owned by heaven’s King;
At home we romp and play
But here we pray and sing.
